Experiecing Khmer Empire | Angkor Wat | Cambodia

Good morning angkor wat!
this is my first time been here and wake up at 4am just to wait for the sun rise at angkor wat!
here is it! the beautiful scenery which reflect back how the architect plan the space and orientate the building or ornament face west or east to enable them to know the time by that era.

SUCH beautiful scene! i experience it during 12 of JUNE 2012!
is an architecture trip with NAIS family :)
a trip with all my coursemates(seniors and one extra junior...erherm)
i have to say i m excited and looking forward to this trip since last year we booked this ticket as
this is my first time to have a architecture trip in my own
with NAIS family^^

ANGKOR WAT
UNESCO heritage building which cover such a huge area during KHMER EMPIRE,
and this is the main building,
I have to say the blending of nature into the structure
absolutely brings out another kind of essence into it,
i can see that the landscape design and consideration during that period
is crucial too especially for this typical hot weather at cambodia, ASEAN.

stepping into the temple we are able to observe the duplicated or perhaps symmetry or even repetition used of the entrance, corridor or column in order to emphasis the walkway.
somehow it attract people to moving forward to reached the destination.
such a deep meaning

sunset at angkor wat is a MUST for us to be here especially photography session.
is so amazing to see birds flying around the top of the temple and portraying the nature and freedom of what they belong to.

stone.carving.art.crafted.statue.buddha.lifestyle.
everything carved on the building. observed by ur eye.
and u know how long the craftman carved it_hardwork.

The second day, 12 JUNE, here we are~ BAYAN~the gorgeous statue aka temple near angkor wat,
numerous statue act as the head of the roof top.

so, do u see him smile? is a HIM, a king rather than the buddha or god...

and this, the function of this massive and grand monument which is a temple,
everything crafted on the column or wall to show the culture and lifestyle
of the people during that particular era.

the SPUNG TREE behind which grow on top of the stone temple and create this beautiful scene.
the combination of nature and man made structure.
too bad the tree eventually destroyed the stone temple with its roots growing around.
SPUNG TREE_ famous as it is empty inside (a hollow tree) lighter weight

nevertheless, other than the KHMER kingdom, we did visit other kingdom building and this is the one. A temple that made of red brick instead of stone.
such details carving on the brick wall with the time fades away,
greenish colour mixed with the original red colour with darken part of the brick
create a balance and proven the building experience time flies.

the last day,13 JUNE 2012, we visit the temples again, and we climb to the highest temple i consider?
here the view at the top of the temple, is all STONE made,
which is getting nearer to sky by creating such structure,
the roof top is actually open and i can imagine how the ancient people using this structure.

every corridor, walkway make sense as in, everything taken into consideration
what to see, what to do, what to know in every possible angle,
every side of the corridor especially wall or roof got its own meaning!
wall with carving (STORY)
roof with opening (DAYLIGHT)
column with carving (SUPPORT)

The hole show how the people carry the stone of rock by actually using pole and insert into the hole,
carry here and there or stacking up each other to create every temple.
perhaps, it take years! or even century!
and this, perhaps will be the highest skylight roof top i saw in siam reap which stacked up by stone.

words cant express how much i learnt and experienced.
is a great opportunity for me to visit here,
by the way, never forget to make some new friend since here is UNESCO site which
always full with foreigner to visit here!
here a new friend we met :)
who came from france ALONE!
cheer for him, so brave and dedicated!
