Kasuga- Taisha | Shinto Shrine in Nara

Kasuga Grand Shrine is one of the best shinto shrine in Japan that founded in year 768.
Their concept was based on the purity which rebuilt every 20 years in its original form until 1863.

Kasuga Shine was united with Kofukuji Temple during half of the Heian Period (794-1185)
under the new theology of Kami-Buddha Fusion.
The government later established Shinto as the state religion and orderd the separation of Buddhism and Shinto during Meiji restoration (1862-1912)

Kasuga Taisha is reachable through a long pathway which intend to give visitor time to
prepare for worship. The well integrated natural setting is the main part of the
sacred site since Shinto is rooted in Nature.

The main entrance provide a Temizuya (water fountain and basin) for purify purposes.
The shrine features vermilion-coloured pillars and 3000 stone & lamp and bronze lanterns.
They were donated over the years by common people as tokens of faith and
it used to be lit up every night.

Group photo before we left the Kasuga - Taisha.
The journey within the temple with the evening sunlight is warming our heart.
I definitely enjoy walking around the temple and the pathway within it.
The sacred old-growth forest around the shrine give extra credits to this UNESCO site
as it maintain its best original features.
